About True Light Photography
My name is Ray Shader and I am the owner/photographer behind True Light Photography. After reading the opening page of this website you will see I have a passion for the outdoors, the wild places. I also have a passion for sharing what I am blessed to see in these wild places and the people I meet there, with others. There are times when I have the opportunity for solitude when I am outdoors and there are those times when I’m involved in a community of others that can include unbelievably diverse backgrounds, cultures, faiths, non-faiths and careers with one common shared quality, appreciating the creation and all it has to offer and enjoying time spent with others that feel the same.
The second way of experiencing the outdoors, with others, is part of my other passion, people. I look forward each day to the opportunities I may have to see friends and to meet new ones. Relationships are a very important thing to me and it is something I carry into my portraiture. To create a singularly personal image of someone is not something I do lackadaisically. It is something that should show others the subject in a true light, hence the name. I enjoy and appreciate spending a little time getting to know the person or persons to be photographed. Whether it’s a walk in a park, a hike or maybe even bowling or shooting pool I collect the images when you let your hair down, forget the camera is there and relax and be you. There is honest life in my portraiture and when it’s displayed, on a wall or mantle, friends or family will be quick to say, “That is definitely you.” In some cases it will reveal a side of you that others did not know was there.
I will be in Leogane, Haiti from April 25th to August 15th 2010. I you would like to help me in this endeavor you can donate at True Light Relief. You can also purchase my book of photography of the Southwest at Blurb. All profits from the book will go to my efforts in Haiti.
